In the 1980's, Marian Burros shared her recipe for the Plum Torte in the New York Times. It became one of the most requested recipes, so they would publish it each September when plums were in season. Part of the appeal of this recipe is that it uses only pantry staples and you do not need an electric mixer to make it.

My Experience:

The Plum Torte is very simple to make. You only need one bowl to mix and one pan for baking. One thing I like about this recipe is that they said the fruit is interchangeable, you could do peaches or apples as well.
