John Martin Taylor shared a recipe for Half Pound Cake in his book The New Southern Cook. It is considered to be more of the "right" size for today's American families. Taylor liked to add a few tablespoons of bourbon, rum, or sherry to his pound cake for flavor.

My Experience:

This recipe does do the whipping of the egg whites to stiff peaks step, but I do not think it helped much. This cake was dry and in my opinion, just blah. It seemed like the neighbors agreed. I am not even going to waste your time by adding a recipe.

Neighbor's Comments:

"The pound cake is ok, would be good with some frosting."

"I agree, it is kinda dry, but good taste."
